LCS History
Lighthouse Christian School (LCS), established in August 1979, operates as a non-profit ministry in partnership with Lighthouse Christian Fellowship. Dedicated to glorifying God, LCS provides a Christ-centered, quality education aimed at assisting parents in nurturing leaders and disciples of Christ in Middle Tennessee.
From its modest beginnings with 128 students, LCS has remained steadfast in its commitment to delivering a Christ-centered education. The school's mission is to see all its students become disciples of Jesus Christ. Over the years, LCS has emerged as a beacon of light in the Antioch community, witnessing numerous graduates pursue higher education at esteemed institutions like Vanderbilt, Lipscomb, Trevecca, Bryan, and beyond. LCS alumni have excelled in diverse fields, becoming nurses, missionaries, pilots, engineers, accountants, athletes, actors, and more.
Lighthouse Christian School prides itself on its diverse student body, representing over 26 nationalities, making it one of the most culturally inclusive private schools in America.
In 2010, facing adversity during the Nashville flood, LCS experienced loss with the destruction of the Preschool building. However, through a miraculous collaboration of divine intervention, the Nashville community, and Extreme Home Makeover, LCS not only rebuilt but ushered in a new era with a brand new Preschool facility.
The Lighthouse Difference
Lighthouse Christian School conducted its inaugural commencement exercise for five graduates in May 1982, marking the beginning of a tradition that has grown exponentially. The annual senior graduation ceremony serves as a special occasion centered around family and relationships. Students are recognized for their achievements, receiving prestigious awards, and sharing reflections on their LCS journey through heartfelt speeches.
LCS alumni continue to play an active role in the school community, frequently attending events and contributing as teachers or after-school care providers. Many alumni have become successful business owners, family leaders, and contributors to their local communities, reflecting the school's mission of cultivating upstanding, productive members of society.
Supported by devoted parents and dedicated staff, LCS has earned a strong testimony throughout Southeast Nashville. The school strives to meet the spiritual, academic, social, and physical needs of its students through:
- A chapel program with revivals and special events, ensuring Biblical integration in every academic subject.
- An excellent academic schedule surpassing the requirements of the Tennessee Board of Regents.
- Extracurricular activities addressing students' social needs.
- A comprehensive sports program including basketball, football, baseball, soccer, volleyball, softball, and cheerleading. Additionally, a robust physical education program starts in Kindergarten.
LCS's Fine Arts Department showcases talented students in areas such as Theatre, Worship Arts, Music, and Art, with numerous awards, including State Championships. The department provides opportunities for students from Preschool through 12th grade to shine through various productions and performances.
