At Lighthouse Christian School the spiritual life of our students is very important. We strive that all may know the Lord and develop a personal relationship with Him. Students are provided the opportunity each week to participate in chapel services led by teachers and principals of the school as well as pastors of Lighthouse Christian Fellowship and other area churches. Spiritual retreats are provided for students in grades 4-12. The 4th-6th grade students visit the Bill Rice Ranch each year for a back to school revival time. The 7th-12th grade students have their own time to refresh and reflect at their retreat.
In January of each year the Middle School and High School students participate in the 2nd semester Back to School Revival, led by members of their classes, alumni, as well as pastors and friends. Each year many students develop a personal relationship with the Lord during this special event. The senior class takes part each year on a trip to an international or domestic destination that is agreed upon by the class. This is a special opportunity designed to foster their spiritual development and strengthen their personal relationship with the Lord as well as their relationships with their peers and teachers. Some of their recent trip locations have included Costa Rica, Cayman Islands, Bahamas, and Jamaica! On these trips, students participate each day in group devotions, prayer, and worship. They also spend time serving the local community in a variety of projects such as building houses, providing vacation Bible school for area students, or volunteering at a local food pantry.
Each class participates in various community and international mission opportunities such as working with a local food pantry, The Branch, adopting a child from World Vision, offering baked sales to provide donations to The Nashville Rescue Mission, and many more. Students also have regular interactions with the church leadership and pastoral staff to help with their spiritual development. Bible classes are held daily for all students and incorporated into each academic area of study. Biblical Worldview teaching is incorporated into each class at each level. Every LCS student is challenged daily to follow Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Lighthouse Christian School exists to glorify God by offering a Christ-centered, quality education that assists parents in developing leaders and disciples of Christ.
Philosophy of Christian Education: It is our conviction that a school is an institution set up by man for the education and training of our children. A school should provide both an environment and a curriculum conducive to effective learning. We believe that, as a Christian school, it is our responsibility to build Christian character in our students. We believe that children should be trained to do right because it is right to do right, and not to do so just for rewards. We believe that there is a natural need for well-defined boundaries governing their behavior. The teacher in the classroom is the authority and must be upheld and respected by the students and their parents. We expect our students to be honest and to exercise personal initiative in class work and homework. Every student must show respect and must obey in attitude and action certain definite rules which are set forth. Therefore, in summary, our philosophy may be stated as follows:
- There is final, absolute truth which as a unit centers in the Creator God.
- This truth is revealed in the Bible, and is personified in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God.
- Christian education is a Christ-centered, biblically integrated process of developing spiritually, mentally, physically, and intellectually mature young people.
- The ultimate aim of life is not adjustment to society, but conformity to Christ.
- This objective is achieved by a disciplined life of sacrificial service, patterned after Him who pleased not Himself (Matthew 20:28).
Statement of Faith: We believe in the verbal inspiration and authority of the Scriptures. We believe that the Bible reveals God, the fall of man, the way of salvation, and God’s plan and purpose in the ages.
We believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity, virgin birth, and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ.
We believe that salvation is by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. The conditions to salvation are repentance and faith.
We believe that men are justified by faith alone and are accounted righteous before God only through the merit of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
We believe in the visible, personal, and imminent return of Jesus Christ.
